A Month of Zombies

So I'm gearing up for my very first Art-A-Thon on IllustratedATCs.com the weekend of Halloween. I drew up this series ahead of time and decided not to wait to trade them so I posted them on ATCsforAll.com. Tomorrow they are on their way to The Netherlands in exchange for a really creepy and beautiful set of similarly spooky-themed cards! It's so nice to get back to non-digital art forms. For the last few years, I've had caricature events heavily scheduled in the fall, but not this year. Tattooing has taken the place of the caricaturing at fairs and festivals - I've just been booking private parties. However, ATCs have been satisfying my need to handle actual pigments versus light...and I'm having fun exploring a slightly darker sense of humor..

  1. These are awesome! I love how they're a series of progressive images, yet each one could stand on its own. Are they done in watercolor or marker?

  2. Thanks! It didn't start out as a story, just ended up that way. They are all done in markers, mostly Sharpies, and Micron pens. I had a request for a 1:1 trade with this set, so I added a fourth. It's going to its new home in Warwick, Rhode Island this week.

  3. Sweet! So you draw them with the Sharpies first and then add details with the Microns? I need to try that on something simpler...

  4. Nope - pencil first, then black Microns, then colored Sharpies, and then Micron again where needed..
